2026 At The Movies

You knew it was coming: the annual reviews of all the films we’ve seen in 2026. As usual, we limited ourselves to five words per film, and for one of the movies I couldn’t restrict myself to just a single review 🙂

Project Hail Mary – Strangest thing, loving the alien.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – ‘Deez Nutz’ of Mario films.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 – Disappointingly, there was no devil.

Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come – A jolly good devil movie!
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy – So absurd it’s almost comedic.
Mortal Kombat 2 – Easy 15 out of 10.

Top Gun – Goose’s death was Mavericks fault.
Backrooms – Dreadful, in the literal sense.
The Mandalorian and Grogu – For God’s sake, enough Grogu!

Masters Of The Universe – Best film of the year!
Masters Of The Universe – Best film of the decade!
Masters Of The Universe – Best film of my lifetime!

Scary Movie – No scares and fewer laughs.
Toy Story 5 – Pixar lost it years ago…
Supergirl – Should have been called ‘Boring-girl’.

Minions & Monsters – Fun story with amazing animation.
Evil Dead Burn – You’ll forget about it tomorrow.
Moana – Better than it probably is.

The Odyssey – Homeric and a bit Odyssean.
Starship Troopers – Let’s have fun shooting bugs!
Robertcop – The furniture of law enforcement.

Spiderman: Brand New Day – Of course it was good.
The End of Oak Street – Stupid but enjoyable dinosaur trash.
Coyote vs Acme – Very funny and cleverly plotted.

Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma – A surreal and mesmerizing experience.
Speed Racer – Took risks which paid off.
Death Race 2000 – Insane, silly, violent and fun!

Onslaught – A surprisingly good Terminator ripoff.
Mutiny – Another fine Jason Statham film.
An American Werewolf in London – It’s better than we remembered!

Vampire Circus – Spoiler warning: Romana’s a vampire!
Practical Magic 2 – The worst film of 2026.
Primetime – It’s more intense than entertaining.

Resident Evil – Now this is just fantastic!
Other Mommy – Should be called Other Mother.
Verity – Wind every ‘plot hole’ contest.

Street Fighter – Frustratingly full of bad decisions.
Clayface – One of the year’s best.
Wildwood – Animation’s wonderful, but the story…

And so ends another year at the flicks. All but one of the above were – as usual – viewed at a drive-in and we go so often that we’ve become fixtures at both! For several months of the year, it’s a highlight of our week 🙂
